Mrs. Gardner watched Ryanne White leap into action moments before Thanksgiving break to help our custodian without ever being asked. No agenda. No applause needed. Just pure Buccaneer pride and a servant’s heart. Ryanne didn’t just hear the call—she answered it. Well done!
Mrs. Dodd recognized Max Vargas for something the world needs a whole lot more of—integrity. Max consistently makes the right choice, even when no one’s keeping score. That’s leadership in its purest form. Way to set the bar, Max!

🍎👨‍🍳 Teacher Talks Tuesday!

This week we’re highlighting Brent Heironimus, our talented Culinary Arts teacher! In his classroom, students don’t just learn about food—they step into a real working kitchen where hands-on learning builds confidence, skills, and professionalism. From cooking and costing to planning and serving, every lesson is a taste of the culinary world.

🧠 Teaching Philosophy:
“I teach Culinary Arts through hands-on, real-world learning that builds confidence, skills, and professionalism. My classroom runs like a working kitchen where students learn by doing—cooking, costing, planning, and serving. I set high expectations, provide strong support, and create a positive team culture where every student feels valued. My mission is to prepare students with the practical skills, work ethic, and mindset they need to succeed in the culinary industry and in life.”

💡 Favorite Lightbulb Moment:
“The light-bulb moment for me is when a student steps out of their comfort zone, tries something they were sure they wouldn’t like, and that doubt suddenly turns into, ‘Whoa… this is amazing!’ That moment of discovery—when their whole perspective shifts always makes my day as a teacher.”

💚 Why I Love ECISD:
“I enjoy teaching at ECISD because the administration genuinely supports its staff and ensures we always have the resources we need. That level of trust and backing allows me to focus on teaching, creating opportunities, and giving students the best experience possible.”

⚓💛 From slicing and sautéing to plating and presentation, Brent’s classroom is where students cook up confidence, skills, and memories that will last a lifetime! 💚

💚💛 GREEN & GOLD GREAT!
Mrs. Brooks witnessed Jermaul Hayes go full superhero mode at the Turkey Trot in November—encouraging a struggling 3rd grader, then literally carrying him across the finish line. No spotlight, no audience, just heart. Heroes don’t wear capes at EC… they wear hats, jeans, and kindness. Outstanding, Jermaul!

🍎✨ Teacher Talks Tuesday!

Meet Ann Frugia — an East Chambers alum who has spent almost 37 years shaping Buccaneers as both a paraprofessional and teacher. From a student in our halls to a lifelong EC educator, Ann’s journey is a true testament to dedication and heart.

🧠 Teaching Philosophy:
“Ultimately, I strive to teach in a way that prepares students not only for academic success, but also for thoughtful participation in society. When students learn to think critically, they learn to make informed decisions, appreciate diverse viewpoints, and adapt to an ever-changing world—skills that extend far beyond the classroom.”

💡 Favorite Lightbulb Moment:
“A lightbulb moment in teaching is when students suddenly see that they are not just completing assignments—they are truly learning and growing.”

💚 Why I Love ECISD:
“One of the things I love most about teaching at East Chambers is the people I work with. We have an outstanding staff who truly care about student success. Our students are also remarkably polite, and most carry themselves with a positive, respectful disposition.”

⚓💛 From alum to mentor, Ann’s impact on ECISD spans generations — and we’re lucky to have her guiding our students every day! 💚

Our students shared the gift of joy at The Arboretum this month. On December 9, Cosmetology students brightened residents’ days with manicures, conversation, and plenty of smiles. Then on December 17, our Elementary Student Council stopped by to spread holiday cheer with Christmas carols.

🍎✨ Teacher Talks Tuesday!

This week, we’re highlighting Ariana Charles, a passionate educator dedicated to helping students grow academically and personally. Her classroom is a place where curiosity, connection, and confidence thrive.

🧠 Teaching Philosophy:
“I believe that strong relationships are the foundation of meaningful learning. By creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom community, students are more willing to participate, make mistakes, and grow. I strive to build trust, validate students' and honor their diverse perspectives. Learning is a collaborative journey, and I aim to model empathy, resilience and open-mindedness. When students feel connected to me, to each other, and to the content, they begin to develop both academic skills and a sense of belonging.”

💡 Favorite Lightbulb Moment:
“My favorite lightbulb moment happens when a student suddenly realizes they can do something that they immediately wrote off as impossible. When these moments happen I am reminded that learning is not only about mastering content it is also about helping students discover their own abilities.”

💚 Why I Love ECISD:
“I can say that teaching at EC has been the most impactful on my teaching journey. From coworkers to administration, I am surrounded by people who are always wanting the best from me and will help in any way they can. I feel at home here and I could not imagine teaching anywhere else!”

⚓💛 Ariana’s dedication and care make ECISD a place where every student can grow, learn, and thrive. 💚
