Recently, the East Chambers coaching staff reached out to the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) Benevolence Fund Committee to request support for one of our own. In response, the THSCA Benevolence Fund generously donated $3,000 to assist eighth-grade student-athlete Darrell Tezeno, who was recently diagnosed with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
On October 30, East Chambers coaches proudly presented Darrell with the donation check and a Buccaneer football jersey — a gesture of encouragement and unity from the entire athletic community.
Darrell’s diagnosis has been life-altering for him and his family. As they navigate the emotional, physical, and financial challenges of ongoing treatment, hospital visits, and specialized care, the outpouring of community support has been both meaningful and necessary. The family is currently facing significant financial strain as they balance medical costs, travel expenses, and time away from work to care for Darrell.
