Student Health Care Provisions

As we resume normal operations at ECISD, we understand there may be residual effects from the Flood of '17 on some of our students that will need to be addressed.  Their mental and physical health are important to their education.  As part of our partnership with the Winnie Stowell Hospital District, ECISD will be utilizing funds already being provided by the WSHD to ramp up help for any of our students impacted by this disaster who need assistance.  Please let us know of any specific concerns you have with any trauma regarding your child, and we will work to resolve it.  You may contact Katie Sparks or Cindy Bull directly or just mention your concerns to any teacher, and he/she will get them the information.  We will be able to provide assistance ranging from basic first aid and examinations to counseling and are in a position to bring in additional staff and resources as needed during the recovery period.  I want to again thank the WSHD Board for continuing to provide funding to meet the health care needs for ECISD students in need of assistance.  It allows us to focus more of our own resources in the classroom.

BUY A BUC A BOOK

As your Superintendent, I would like to introduce an initiative involving third through eighth grades at EC that we ask you to consider.  We are making a concerted effort at EC to get students to read more on their own – just for the pleasure and joy of reading.  A side effect of reading more is that students become more successful in all of their academic pursuits.  This initiative is a way for the good citizens of our community to directly impact the education of our children.  We are providing a list of books that are considered standards for children’s literature or that have been approved by at least one family-centered organization, according to the Texas Education Agency which provides the list to parents on their child’s STAAR Student Report.  I am providing the list here for you.

East Chambers ISD adopted a tax rate that will raise more taxes for maintenance and operations than last year's tax rate.
