RTI is a multi-tiered intervention process with
increasing levels of support at each tier. |
-
Tier 1 - All students
begin in tier I. Teachers use high quality core class instruction aligned
with TEKS in which about 80% or more of the students are successful. This
is the crucial foundation of the RTI model.
-
Tier 2 - Students are
identified for individual or small group intervention in addition to core
class instruction. This level includes scientific, research-based
programs, strategies, and procedures designed and employed to supplement,
enhance, and support Tier I activities. Some or all: TAKS classes, content
mastery, before/after school TAKS classes, accommodations and/or small
group instruction and/or support, weekly or bi-weekly progress monitoring
to track progress.
-
Tier 3 - Students who
have not responded adequately to Tiers 1 and 2 will receive specific,
custom-designed individual or group instruction beyond the instruction in
Tiers 1 and 2. This level of intervention is aimed at those students who
have shown difficulties academically or behaviorally.
-
Tier 4 -
Possible special education testing and/or services.
|
|
|
 |
-
Struggling students are identified.
-
Instructional interventions and
supports will be provided in addition to the standard instruction already
provided in the general education classroom.
-
Each tier is provided about 10-12
weeks, which allows students to demonstrate adequate, measurable progress.
-
Student progress is regularly
monitored and documented.
-
Accommodations, adaptive strategies,
supplemental and small group instruction will be provided in RTI groups and
in the regular classroom.
