Dear Parents and Guardians:

I am fortunate to begin this school year as the Intermediate/Junior High counselor.  I look forward to advocating for students in ways that promote their academic, personal, and social development.  I anticipate getting to know each student as they journey through the upcoming school year.  As counselor I will:

  • Serve as a bridge between home, school, and the community.
  • Work with students in classrooms, small groups, and individually.
  • Support teachers and parents in promoting student success.
  • Respond to the identified needs of children.
  • Maintain trust, respect, and confidence.
  • Provide preventative services and alternatives.

In classroom, group, and individual counseling sessions, students will be taught to:

  • Recognize and understand their feelings and the feelings of others.
  • Accept themselves and others.
  • Recognize, understand, and work through learning difficulties by way of coping skills.
  • Talk about their educational and personal/social concerns.
  • Relate to others
  • Adjust to family changes such as moving, a new sibling, divorce, etc.
  • Learn alternative and healthy coping skills.

I look forward to you as parents, teachers, and myself working together to ensure the confidence and success of our children. Please feel free to contact me with any concerns you may have.

Sincerely,

Lauren Richard
