Missed
Opportunities Derail Buccaneers
in Opener |
 |
Friday night, August 27,
2010, the Bucs opened their
season by hosting the 3A
Orangefield Bobcats.
In a close game, plagued
with missed opportunities,
EC fell to the Bobcats
20-21. |
|
|
In the first quarter, East
Chambers would drive down in
scoring position, but lost
possession on a fumble. The
remainder of the first quarter
would remain scoreless, and it
would be Orangefield to score
first on a long 25-yard run in
the second quarter. The Bucs,
however, would answer with a
score off a 1-yard pass from
Jones to Gilfillian. EC would
tie the score 7-7 with a
successful extra point kick by
Martinez. Towards the end of the
second quarter, the Bucs would
attempt a field goal, but it
would fail. OF would score again
to take the lead in the third
quarter, but the Bucs would
respond with a score of their
own off a 54-yard run by Glenn
Roberts. The PAT would tie the
game 14-14. The Bobcats would
answer once again in the third
quarter with a score to take the
lead. Down 14-21, the Bucs would
rally in the fourth quarter when
Roberts would score on a 14-yard
run. The PAT would fail leaving
East Chambers down by one.
