Volleyball all-district selections were held last week and the following athletes were selected to the All-District Team:  1st Team- Tiffany Tezeno; MVP Setter - Jordyn Kurek; and New Comer of the Year - Shelby Franzen. Congratulations Lady Bucs.

On Tuesday, October 23, 2007, the Lady Bucs finished their season against the Buna cougars. The varsity was defeated in 4 games with scores of 13-25, 24-26, 27-25, and 20-25. Key players were Lindsey McDonald, Shelby Franzen, Tiffany Tezeno, and Jordyn Kurek. Their overall season record was 18-36.

The junior varsity team lost in 3 games with scores of 25-22, 15-25, and 22-25. Key players were Karrie Bennett on serving and Alisa Vojt on hitting. Their overall season record was 17-21.

The freshmen won against Buna in 3 games with scores of 25-20, 18-25, and 25-18. Key players were Patricia Paniaguia and Carson Campbell. Their overall season record was 21-8.

Coach Johnson -"I was very excited about how the year ended. I saw so much improvement from the freshman level to the varsity. All the girls worked hard from day one to last night. I am blessed to having coached the best girls in Texas. When you have athletes like we do at East Chambers, it makes coaching a joy. The entire coaching staff is sad to close this chapter of the book, but we are also excited about what next year has in store. Good luck ladies in the rest of the year."

On Friday night, October 19, 2007, the Lady Bucs lost their playoff hopes in a tough 5-game loss to Anahuac, 20-25, 17-25, 25-23, 26-24, and 9-15.  The Lady Bucs put up a fight and a never give up spirit when they got behind 2 games to none.  East Chambers will play their final game of the season on Tuesday night against Buna at home.

The JV Lady Bucs won in 3 games, 25-9, 16-25, 25-20, and the Freshmen won in 2 games, 25-16, 25-14. 

On Tuesday night, October 16, 2007, the Lady Bucs took on the first place Kountze Lions. East Chambers played one of their best games to date, but came up short.  In the first game, the Lady Bucs fell behind, but with hard work and determination pulled back into the game.  In the end, however, the Lady Lions finished it off winning 25 - 17.  In the second game, the Lady Bucs came out very strong and played well.  It was a heart-breaking loss of 23 -25. The third game was very intense and hard fought as well.  EC fell short 22 – 25.  It was a difficult loss, but one that came with many good victories.  The Lady Bucs put up some of their best numbers of the year.  Shelby Franzen led the team in kills with 7 and also in blocks.  Tiffany Tezeno served incredibly to keep EC in game 2.  On defense, Tayler Kurek and Lindsey McDonald put up great percentages on serves received and digs.

The JV Lady Bucs pulled out a victory in 2 games, 25 - 15, 25 - 22; they played with a lot of heart.  Camarie Kear and  Karrie Bennett led the Lady Bucs last night to victory.

Freshmen did not play; Kountze does not have a freshman team.

The Lady Bucs lost a close one to Hardin, Tuesday night, October 9, 2007. Game scores were 25-13, 16-25, 19-25, and 21-25. Charla Thomas topped the Lady Bucs with 5 kills, and the team had an impressive 14 blocks.  East Chambers fought hard to stay close to the 2nd place Lady Hornets, but in the end they were too much for EC to handle.  The entire varsity volleyball team made a great effort last night against the Hornets.

The junior varsity lost in 2 games 20-25, 23-25.  Breanna Joseph and Autumn Scott played great back row defense and Camarie Kear had 9 kills.  

The freshmen won 25-20, 25-20.  Lesley Valastro lead the team with 2 kills. Abbey Johnson and Lesley Valastro also lead the team in back row passing.

Friday night, October 5, 2007, all three Lady Buc volleyball teams were victorious.  The varsity won in 4 games, 22-25, 25-10, 25-21, and 25-22.  After losing a close first game, the Lady Bucs took care of business with Jordyn Kurek and Lindsey McDonald serving the way. In game three, EC finally started hitting the ball well on the front row with Tayler Kurek leading the way.  Game four was a close one, but Tiffany Tezeno had 2 monster kills to put away the Pirates.  This moves the Lady Bucs to 3-3 in district play.

The junior varsity won 25-10, 25-20 and the freshmen won 25-23, 25-14.  Leading players for the JV were Shaena Oldham and Camarie Kear and for the freshmen Abbey Johnson and Carson Campbell.

Coach Johnson -"I thought the girls at all three levels really stepped up and played hard. With so many distractions going on, all the coaches were real proud of the effort."

On Tuesday, October 2, 2007, the ECHS volleyball teams traveled to Buna. Varsity fell short in 4 games, 17-25, 24-26, 25-20, and 9-25.  Leading the way for the Lady Bucs was Jordyn Kurek with 6 kills and Shelby Franzen with 4 kills.  On the back row Tiffany Tezeno and Tayler Kurek kept us going.  The Lady Bucs fought hard.  The first round of play is complete and varsity finishes at 2-3 in district and are sitting in fourth place.

The JV won last night in a hard fought 3 games, 19-25, 25-21, and 25-20.  They were down 13 – 2 in the 3rd game, but the Lady Bucs rallied back to win.  Leading the JV was Camarie Kear, Morgan Falke, and Autumn Scott.

The freshmen also played really well last night falling short in 3 games, 15-25, 25-23, 22-25.  These ladies played well in a hard fought battle.  Leading the freshmen last night were Carson Campbell, Janae Alleman, and Lesley Valastro.

The Lady Bucs swept the Anahuac Panthers on September 25, 2007.  The varsity started out sluggish losing the first two games 24-26 and 18-25.  After regrouping, the Lady Bucs came back and won the next three games 25-16, 25-15, 15-10.  Leading the Lady Bucs back in the final three games were Tiffany Tezeno with great all-around play and Tayler Kurek with her defense.  This moves the Lady Bucs to a record of 2-2 in district.  The JV won in two games beating Anahuac 25-7 and 25-18.  Shaena Oldham and Lindsey McDonald lead the JV team to their victory with their all-around play. The Freshmen won 25-9 and 22-10.  The freshmen were lead by Abbey Johnson and Tamera Beasley.  It was a great night for the Lady Bucs.  The Lady Bucs next district game will be Tuesday against Buna.

On September 21, 2007, the Lady Bucs took on the Kountze Lady Lions.  The Lady Lions were too much for the Bucs to handle Friday losing in 3 games, 12-25, 12-25, and 18-25.  The Lady Bucs will take on Anahuac Tuesday night for their next district game. The JV lost another game in 3, 21-25, 25-17, 17-25. Freshmen were open.

On September 18, 2007, the Lady Bucs took on the Lady Bobcats of Hull-Daisetta and fell short of victory.  In a five game battle, the Lady Bucs scores were 11 – 25, 25 – 23, 25 – 22, 23 - 25, and 4 – 15.  Leading the Bucs were Tiffany Tezeno and Courtney Joseph.  The JV lost in 3 games with scores of 25 – 21, 20 – 25, 9 – 15.  Leading the JV were Camarie Kear and Shaena Oldham.  The freshmen came out on top and beat the Lady Bobcats in 2 games 25 – 13 and  28 – 26.  Leading the freshmen were Carson Campbell and Tamera Beasley.  The Lady Bucs varsity and JV will be playing Kountze on Friday starting at 4:00 pm.   

On September 14, 2007, the Lady Bucs traveled to Hardin to take on the Lady Hornets.  The Lady Bucs lost in 3 games with the scores being as followed: 15 – 25, 15 – 25, 17 – 25.  The Lady Bucs were lead in play by Tiffany Tezeno and Charla Thomas.  The Lady Bucs will take on the Hull-Daisetta Bobcats on Tuesday night at home.

The JV lost in 3 games, 14 – 25, 25 – 20, and 6 – 15.  The Freshmen lost in 2, 25 – 21, 25 -18.
