Annual Sports Banquet Recognizes Student Athletes
Hudson Award Recipients

The community building was the setting for the Annual ECHS Sports Banquet which was held on May 11, 2010. Karrie Bennett, a senior athlete, opened the night's events with a welcome followed by the invocation given by Lesley Valastro, FCA President. Attendees enjoyed a meal while viewing a slideshow of athletic clips from the year presented by senior Jace Silcox. Bret McDonald then addressed the crowd with a wonderful retelling of various athletic highlights from over the years.

Coach Valastro, athletic director, introduced the night's guest speaker, UT coach and former athletic standout, Major Applewhite.

Mr. Applewhite addressed the audience, and particularly the athletes, with words of wisdom regarding attitude, awareness, and community service. Athletes were then recognized in their respective sports for various levels of achievement and contribution.

The night's highlight was the presentation of the J.D. Hudson Awards for Outstanding Female and Male Athletes which went to Shelby Franzen and J.T. Hallmark.
